HRA Student Chapter Activities and Benefits

1. Regular Meetings. The student chapter holds regular meetings typically the first Thursday of each month. These meetings often include a guest HR professional from Boise and also provide updates of HR news in the Boise area.

2. Internships.  Hundreds of internships are available in the Boise area for chapter members.

3. HR Collegiate CompetitionThese contests are usually held in March and April.  Students compete in Jeopardy-style competition

4. Scholarships. Two $2000 scholarships are available to members of the student chapter. To apply, you simply have to be a member of the student chapter by March.

5. Parent Chapter. Students may attend meetings of the parent chapter (Human Resource Association of Treasure Valley--HRATV). Its meetings are usually held on the third Wednesday of each month at 7:30 or 11:30 a.m. The cost for students is half price what regular members pay.  Check www.hratv.org for registration.

6. Shadow Program. How would you like to shadow an HR professional all day to see what this person does?

7. Tours. Students may take a tour of some HR departments in Boise.

8. Regional Conference. Attend the Region 5 (Pacific West) Conference held every year in October and April. Get a discount from the student chapter.

9. National Conference. Attend the Society for Human Resource Management Conference held every year June. Get a discount from the student chapter or go free if you win the regional HR Collegiate Competition (HR Games).

10. Other. Rake up Boise in "Rake-up Boise", party, eat pizza, participate in the organizational fair, join certification study groups
