The purpose of this link page is to provide useful business links associated with Lithuania.  There is no commercial purpose or personal financial gain from this link page.  Most links include a title, languages used, services, and a brief description of the mission and purpose of the site.  Services include search engines, blogs, on-line polls, site of origin (e.g., .lv, .com, .net) and transactions.  Transactions could be nonfinancial (e.g., registration) to financial (e.g., payment of fees) Almost every brief description is a direct quote from the link.  Most of these direct quotes will refer to either the mission or objectives of the link.

Baltic Environmental Forum (Lv, E) "The BALTIC ENVIRONMENTAL FORUM (BEF) project started operating in June 1995. It was founded to enable the three Baltic States Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania to co-ordinate information, expertise and experience exchange in the environmental field. It provides practical support for the environmental co-operation as laid down in a trilateral agreement of the three governments in 1995."

Center for Environmental Policy (E, Lt) "Center for Environmental Policy was established in 1997. It was founded on the basis of Central and Eastern Europe Environmental Economics and Policy project supported by US Agency for International Development by the group of environmental economists. Later specialists from various fields of environmental protection joined the Center. In order to respond rapidly and effectively to the needs of clients, Center for Environmental Policy operates on a network or ‘pool’ system. It has a both core staff working in Vilnius office and an extensive network of experts who can be contracted in for specific contracts and assignments as required by clients. EnviroLink Network (E, F) "The EnviroLink Network is a non-profit organization which has been providing access to thousands of online environmental resources since 1991."

Environment Management and Audit Institute (E, Lt) "EMAI attempts to assist enterprises and organizations of the country in solving problems of environment protection, to help in implementation of the system of standard EN ISO 14000 requirements in the course of Lithuanian integration into the European Union, as well as other documents connected with environment protection activities."

Environmental Centre for Administration and Technology (E, Lt) "The Environmental Centre for Administration and Technology (ECAT-Lithuania) was founded as a non-governmental organization in 1997 by the European Commission in co-operation with the Lithuanian Ministry of Environment.The goal of ECAT-Lithuania is to support, promote and strengthen the environmental activities in Lithuanian municipalities and local communities."

NPP Database Sites (E) Welcome to the Oak Ridge National Laboratory Distributed Active Archive Center's (ORNL DAAC's) Net Primary Productivity (NPP) Database. The NPP Database contains documented field measurements of biomass and estimated NPP for terrestrial sites worldwide, compiled from published literature and other extant data sources. It includes intensively studied and well-documented field study sites, together with more extensive collections of worldwide data. Compilation of these data was sponsored by the Terrestrial Ecology Program of NASA's Office of Earth Science.

Oak Ridge DAAC for Biogeochemical Dynamics (E) "A source for biogeochemical and ecological data useful for studying environmental processes. These data have been collected on the ground, from aircraft, or by satellite or have been generated by computer models. The extent of data ranges from site-specific to global, and durations range from days to years."

Regional Environmental Center (E, Lt) Non-partisan, non-advocacy, not-for-profit international organization with a mission to assist in solving environmental and sustainable development problems in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).  The REC was established in 1990 by the United States, the European Commission and Hungary. Today, the REC is legally based on a charter signed by the governments of 28 countries and the European Commission, and on an international agreement with the government of Hungary.

World Conservation Monitoring Centre (E) The UNEP World Conservation Monitoring Centre provides information for policy and action to conserve the living world. Our programmes concentrate on species, forests, protected areas, marine, mountains and freshwaters; plus habitats affected by climate change such as polar regions. We also address the relationship between trade and the environment and the wider aspects of biodiversity assessment.
